Memorable food in my life

Before I came to the US, I had traveled to Europe with my friend for 40 days. I visited a lot of countries, such as England, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, etc. Among them, the country which remains most in my memory is France.

France is famous for a lot of exotic food, so my friend and I decided to challenge eating French food. The strangest food I ate is snails (escargots). This cuisine is one of the most popular authentic French cooking. Actually, I could eat almost everything, so I ate a snail without hesitation. (But my friend was afraid of eating it.) As soon as I bit a snail, I thought that it was similar with a top shell. This food tasted really good; especially the seasoning was great. It was seasoned with garlic and herb. In addition, there was some small bread, so I put the seasoning on bread and ate it.

Sometimes, I recall that time. I couldn’t forget its taste. I think that it was much more delicious because I ate real authentic French food in France. If I could go to France someday, I really want to eat snails again!

My dream job

My major is material science and engineering, and my minor is technological management at the university. After finishing ALP, I’m going back to my country to graduate from the university. And someday I want to be a chief executive who deals with technological problems in the company, developing both of my major and minor.

But if I would be born again, or I could choose a dream job, I want to be a pianist. Piano is a very attractive musical instrument because we can express various kinds of chords, dynamics, and tones through piano. Thus, piano is usually called a ‘little orchestra’. When I’m listening to piano music, I feel moved and touched. From time to time, I want to express something by playing piano, not to just listen. Therefore, sometimes I wish I could get the ability to make people moved and touched by playing piano.

I learned playing piano when I was very young, but at that time I didn’t want to do that. I liked playing outside with my friends than playing piano in a room alone. Now, I feel regret for stopping learning it. But sometimes I choose one music score and practice it alone. Even if I’m not, and I couldn’t be a pianist now, I would feel happy and satisfied with that. However, if it could be possible, I really want to be a pianist!

About me

My name is Gisun Kim, but please just call me Carol. Actually, my mother named my English name. Everyone knows that Carol means "Christmas music", but my mother said it also means "good news". I want to be a person who can deliver good news to people, so I decided it. :) I'm from Republic of Korea. I'm an undergraduate student in my country, and my major is Material Science & Engineering. I live in Incheon where the international airport is located, so if you visit my country someday, you could meet me again. :)
I came to US to study English. I like to talk with people, but I was always in trouble speaking in English. After I came here, I meet a lot of people and get an opportunity to talk in English, so I'm very excited everyday.
My hobby is reading books. I like detective novels especially, so I read all Sherlock Holmes series, Agatha Chrisitie's, and Ellery Queen's. I also enjoy watching movies. I like almost all kinds of movies; romance, comedy, action, thriller, etc. I don't mind any genres except the horror movies. :( I usaully listen music when I take a rest; also, I like singing a songs. :D Actually I'm in a choir club in my country, and I'm a first alto. In the choir club, I sang various kinds songs, from mass music to jazz music; In addition, I went on a lot of stages. (actually I appeared on the really big stages twice!) This is my best and most valuable experience, that I don't want to change with another!
These days, I'm so excited because everything is new and interesting to me. I'm really happy to meet you all, and I enjoy studying English everyday. To me, every time in US is so valuable. I want to have a good time with you for a semester!
